Math 102 Biostatistics

Ch 11 cont’d & Ch 13

By

We will finish Ch 11 and start Ch 13 today.

Ch 13 is one of the most important chapters in this course. The subject materials are more abstract than the previous chapters. So be patient. Pause and take frequent breaks!

Instructions

  • There are 2 problems in this lab work:
    • #11.10 b) only — find a value given a proportion
      • You will notice that there are two z values that are of equal distance to z = 0.95. Then your z value will be the midpoint between those two z values (i.e. 1.64 + 1.65 / 2 = 1.645). So your z value is z = 1.645.

    • #13.3 — we use the data but not the sub-parts

  • The videos explain the concepts and shows you how to do the lab work:

Ch 11 The Normal Distributions — cont’d — reverse calculation

Ch 13 Sampling distributions

  • Submit your lab work as one single PDF file to Canvas before the due date.
